Like many visitors to the museum, I have used it. As you see, it is more of a spiral ramp, rather than stairs, so has a gentler slope.

It is a double helix, allowing separate up and down streams of pedestrians, built in 1932, inspired by a private staircase made for the pope in the 1500's.

No, it does not lead all the way to heaven

... but it gets you started.

Maybe the stairway to heaven is a gentle slope, seams the Vatican dose like those types of staircases seams there is a lot of them.
