I've made it with 925 sterling silver. I inlaid gold, Saphir and Rubis. This style of Persian carpet is called "Toranj". ;)

Looks a real nice carpet :) I also like the way you tread the background, also different blacks. That way it adds a lot of different depths.

It is pretty wild looking. Do you have much experience inlaying into sterling?
Do you go about it much the same as steel, with raised teeth to capture the gold. Or do you cut a seat for it and tap the corners over on the silver .. Setting the gold in? Or option three

I Cut a Seat for gold on silver. It's better to use 24k Gold.

yeah...i've been thinking about this...
but just worried about the holding power of silver.. apposed to steel.. but i suppose it's just a fancy gypsy set..
