The first thing that comes to mind is the possibility of an electrical short in the hot shoe. I use my hot shoes for flashes, transmitters, etc. And, most modern digital cameras don't have a shutter release button similar to the Leica. I don't think there will be much of a market for such camera accessories.

I think it's brilliant. The Leica cameras shown are very pricey, and this might be a nice moneymaker for someone. I think what I'd do is a simple, elegant hotshoe plate with a classic monogram on it. Of course as Doc pointed out, you'd have to be careful not to short the contacts.

Even if he hasn't sold any of these, it's been a great publicity thing- I googled it, and his images and business name are all over the web. Lots of news outlets picked up on it.
