The previous post mentioned using a broom handle as a graver handle. So being a bit off the wall. Sorry to confuse.

You can buy round or square stock cut to length drill center hole , side hole for set screw. Don’t need a lathe. Broom handle works too.
Took your advice and made a handle for H&C local wielding shop gifted me 18” of 3/8” key stock. Played with it a bit. Will take some to develop the touch needed.

never wear out, my favorite handle good transfer of energy from the hammer. you will find out your tapping speed will remain constant after a while. If i want a little extra umph i use a small hardware store ball pein hammer instead of trying harder tapping with a chasing hammer . good luck.
