To my eye, this is a very fruitful avenue to explore for tool ornamentation, as Marcus mentions in his excellent teaching kit, Fine English Scroll is a refined and conservative style that does not shout out at you, rather it draws you in. Good idea to apply it to planes, Katherine! I have the Marcus kit and hoping to develop some competence soon when I get more free time. In my own case I will need to get plenty of practice plates done. Might I follow your good idea, when the time comes, and try it eventually on one of my antique planes. Its refined texture demands very precise termination of its overall borders, as the eye first catches the perimeters before being drawn into the details.
Thanks for this idea, and for posting!
Shall you be in Vegas in January? I enjoyed our merry group at last year's banquet.
