it serves no useful purpose that i've come across. the bulino engravers may have a use for such for doing closely spaced lines, dots, etc. i failed to mention that they can be handy for measuring tiny things. that's how i know my .2mm flat graver is of that dimension. unless measuring something, i remove that eyepiece, and put in the normal one.
