depends on what you mean by "middle priced". personally, i'd recommend a good used Jun-Air or Werther Panther over anything else new, but good ones at good prices can be hard to find.

Hello,

If you ever need air to run other tools---
and have a garage.
Buy a bigger one and pipe the air into your shop.
I buried the 1/2" rubber-type hose and have a switch in my basement shop--no noise.

PS, the hose does freeze up at the compressor once or twice a winter!

I have the GMC 6310 with the 6 gal tank. I put mine in my attached garage and I can't hear it running in the room next door. Its not as quiet as the Silair etc but its a lot cheaper. I use it almost daily and it provides nice clean dry air. Just make sure to drain the water out of the tank daily. Wayfair will give you a 10% discount if you access their website several times. The discount shows up in a popup ad on other websites. If you already have an old compressor with a tank and are handy, you can buy just the compressor motor - look for California air on the Wayfair web site.
