Howdy to the Cafe,
My name is Jim Riggs. I post as Hillcountry. I live in Boerne, Texas.
I have been engraving since 1973. I studied under Bill Lister (my cousin) and Frank Hendricks. I still use the hammer and chisel method. I took about five years off from engraving and am now starting to engrave again. I was a little rusty starting again. I've gone to Weldon Lister to get me headed back in the right direction. He's been a big help.
I've been using a machinest vise to hold the parts. I would like to buy a Ray Letorneau vise if I can find one for sale.
I've been reading this forum for awhile now. There are some really good engravers out there and some good information.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Bill,
Welcome !
Nice to have another old school tool pusher.
I am sure you will be back into the groove in short order.
I was fortunate to get some vises from Ray before he retired.
Supposedly, he has turned over his operation to another machinist, but there has been no production as of last contact with Ray,which was in the last few months.
God Bless,
michael
