I’ve been asked to engrave a pocket flask for my daughter’s wedding. Thankfully, it is not until a year from now. Pricing sterling and copper ones, I think we will choose stainless steel. Does anybody have any suggestions regarding sources that are not rock hard? I make many western buckles, etc. in soft steel, brass, nickel, copper with occasional sterling. My skill level is advanced beginner/ serious hobbyist.

just a guess here. try googling wedding suppliers. never know what is available on the net or the bay. i;d think most any article like that in ss could be engraved.

I cut a stainless flask for my son a few years back, filled it with water to dampen the vibrations, due to it being food grade stainless it was hard, that said, the project turned out acceptable.

Plan on most stainless flasks being very tough as they are usually food grade stainless.
