Hi everybody

I have made an engraving for a bamboo Rod-makers gathering that was held last week. It is a titanium medal ( 30 mm Diameter) with a brown trout rising to take a fly.

My model was a Marcello Pettineo’s drawing. Marcello is a friend I have known by means of this forum. A few weeks ago we seen his work here.

Marcello is a fisherman and hunter and he draws with a naturalist spirit .

I like his work very much, he has illustrated for Holland &Holland and Orchape catalogs.

I have cut two little pendants with a Grayling, this is a fish that is very fun to catch with a dry fly. One of these will be a gift for Marcello.

Thank you for looking

Greetings

Very Nice Santos . It's been a while since you showed your work looks great.

The Grayling was a native fish here in Michigan . It's a char just like the Brook Trout which still exists and is the other native here. The Ausable river which starts near Grayling Michigan was famous for it's fishery of Grayling until the logging filled in the river and the waters warmed from all the destruction of the cover foliage which blocked sunlight to the river making it too warm to sustain the Grayling. I live less than fifty miles from Grayling.
I really like the colors you obtain on the titanium. Keep up the good work

Santos, great to see some more Titanium engraving, the colouring of the Titanium in combination with engraving is great in my opinion, can only be done on Titanium.
Love the technique and do it myself.
Perhaps one thing, are the "rings" that will hold the chains welded? On your first round one I could have done it better. There is a half bead now but not could be better similar to all the other nice work you did.

Thank you all.

Chris, I have enjoyed your DVD very much and your casting was very
helpfull to see the width of the cuts.

Andrew, we have not so big trout but in centuries past people think
that grayling eat gold . They often try to extract that gold from the
fish, with no result of course. I have inlayed gold around the eye on
one of the fish.

David , you can oxydize Ti by heating it . But it will be difficult to
do a selective heating with a torch. I have anodized it as showed here :

Arnaud you are right. I usually weld the rings with a TIG but I have
forget to do it before engraving, and I was afraid to heat the pendant
while welding it after engraving.

Rolland my friend, your advice is always very appreciated.

Best Regards

Jean
