Bright cutting before shading

The clockwise scroll in the upper right is a good example of hand engraved bright cuts. The way that the cut gradually and smoothly widens is hard to achieve with a machine. For those of you that are wondering what a bright cut is supposed to look like then that is the picture you should save and put on your bench. Thanks for putting the picture on here Dave.

Simple liner shading finished.All of this is hand done, no air or hot air either!!!!Hope this helps with explaining the liner question that was up the other day.

Sam if the tool is sharpened properly and you use the right technique silver cuts like butter.

Silverchip, I can't tell from either photo what your scroll backbone looks like or if there is one at all. Are you cutting one with a point graver? Your bright cutting is outstanding!!!!
