About 32 years ago when I was still playing music professionally, I engraved this buckle for a police officer friend of mine who worked at the club where my band played. We recently reconnected on Facebook and he sent me a photo of the buckle.

Back in the day I would buy plain cast brass buckles by the dozen for engraving.

This post demonstrates the answer to a question on the other forum: after 32 years the background still does look good, and I guess it's not been in a drawer for all that time?
So: did you lower the background first before using the beading tool, Sam?

Silverchip: I had a Gravermeister around that time, and this could have been done with that. I don't remember.

Jeroen: No, the background has not been lowered, and I don't know how much the buckle has been worn.

Andrew: Yes, an insane amount of beading. What was I thinking?!

that is a very nice buckle, sam. so nice to know that your work is in actual use, rather than hangin on some wall somewhere.
