Barrel engraving setup

Cobbled a fixture to hold barrels for engraving. The photos are pretty much self explanatory( if they show up). The whole assembly rotates in a post that is inserted into the grey column. It is very smooth to rotate. It rides on a bronze bushing. Aa piece of angle iron in place of a barrel is for practice. I’ll be engraving my name and address on an octagon bbl, but it would not be difficult to set it up so that the bbl could be set up to roll around it long axis for round bbl’s. If you folks have any ideas or suggestions I would appreciate hearing them, thanks.
Cheers Richard

This looks like a neat, functional fixture. Could you supply a list of parts that you bought? And suppliers? It appears that you have set up your scope mount on the front of your table. I have mine on the back to keep it out of the way, at the moment. However, I am working out a design for a new, wraparound corner engraving bench and you have prompted me to think about setting up mounting holes for the scope mount on both the front and back of the bench, so that I can move it to the front when I need to have my ball fixture far away for something like a long barrel. Thanks for the prompt in thinking so that I can plan ahead.

This fixture functions great and just posting these final images so folks get an idea of what is involved in making something like this. Got about thirty bucks in bearings. The arm support is easily slid in or out as preferred.
Cheers Richard
