Hello i am new to the world of engraving.. i started on and off engraving a few years ago as a hobby. i am working on my pool cue that the stainless steel joint is engraved and im trying to background, im useing gesswein black background and it tuned out good and looks good. my question is that i see on other engravings from other people the background is a very shiny and wet looking. how can i get my background to look the same. what can i put on it a spray or bush on. that will make it look wet or shiny even both. thanks.

Hi Quinn and welcome to the forum

If I understand you correctly, you are talking about blackening the cuts/background.

If that is the case the to get the "wet look" you can use a high gloss oil based house paint......most people in the USA are using Rustolium.

Cheers
Andrew
