Don't know if this really has a place on this forum, but wanted to see what y'all thought. Its my second stock I carved.

Thanks. This was my first time carving oak leaves .and the 3rd doing fish scales. I did notice I have a tendency to cut the scales to deep. ... haha. Trust me I'm my own worst critic on everything I do. I can see every little flaw . I just always hope no one else sees them too . lol

it looks nice to me. i had the book. created my own scale pattern in corel draw. that way it's very easy to size them exactly as you want them. did 1 stock that way. i swore i'd never do another. the pattern drove me nuts carving it.

Hello Jarred,
I congratulate you for the completed work

As said SamW:
... you do have an excellent start!...

I would recommend to pay attention on the frames of design . More exactly- how their form fits into the general form of the gun

I wish you success

I really like carved stocks. I hate checkering. Its seams like they will have real nice figure english walnut then checker over the best figure in the wood. Might as well use cheap maple or plain old walnut.
