I'm finished with the slide and was wondering if I should texture the silver & gold flower centers. I was thinking about leaving it smooth and wait to see how it looks after bluing. Then if I don't like it I could texture it then. Too risky? Thanks for any input.....JohnR

JRon, Looks real nice A very nice job. I would do my texturing after bluing. You are a careful craftsman so damage is very unlikely anyway. If this is going to be a using piece you will probably have to be somewhat aggressive with pattern to reduce ware anyway. Plain may be better in the end. Fred

That should work just fine. When parts are rust blued I leave the inlay final detailing 'til after so I don't have to do it twice. With hot dip it doesn't seem to matter. After you texture it if you don't like it you can always burnish it off smooth again.

After blueing, I think detailing the flower centers would give it an unusual and unique look...useful art, if you know what I mean.
