thanks for all the comments and suggestions I am finished for now and almost ready to begin on the long learning curve! The reason I didn't just jump in and start is because I know if I invest more of myself and time I will be more likely to keep trying to learn and evolve and hopefully succeed the money I have saved in making the things I have made so far is in excess of $1100.00 conservatively speaking... here is the results of my work on the stand as it sits now. All repurposed material...as always any and all comments are welcome!

With the size of your bag , looks like it wouldn't take much travel to have your bag overhanging the edge of your turntable. Making it precarious?

With the weight of the block and all of the holes in the turn table it's good to go plus the rate of spin is way slow, not like making pottery! The overhang is about 1 1/2" give or take thanks for the reply!
