My brother is learning to engrave and is looking for belt buckle blanks in silver. Does anyone know where to find them? He tried Montana Silversmith but says the buckle blanks they carry are silver plated. Also, he is looking for what he says are "domed" buckles. Thanks in advance if anyone has info.

There is a member, Tom, (that I taught English scroll to) that was making silver buckles about 7 - 8 months ago and, as far as I know still is. The buckles are lovely. His member name is LahtiM39 and you can see his buckels at: http://www.pbase.com/tikkakoski/sterling_blanks&page=1
His post on 07-22-2010 said that he can be reached by telephone at 904-388-1200 9-5pm EST.

If you're reading this Tom, perhaps you could chip in? Hope this helps.

i feel silver is a bit pricey for a newbie to "learn" on. as andrew mentioned, the nickel silver is good to start with. don't forget to try some copper.
