Anybody know anything about this book? Looks interesting at an affordable price as low as $38.95.

Firearms engraving as decorative art : the origin of American ...
Alibris has Firearms engraving as decorative art : the origin of American firearms engraving motifs in the decorative art of the Middle East and other books by Fredric A. Harris ...

This new approach to the study of firearms engraving features a patented process for the examination of scrolls and motifs under powerful magnification. Several chapters are devoted to the study of the origins of American Firearms engraving motifs and their origins in the decorative art of the Middle East... This work is considered a major break- through and enables the student to positively identify the patterns of such master engravers as the Ulrichs, Nimschke, Helfricht, Young and others. 156 full color pages, Hard-bound a real winner.

I do have that book. As one who is frequently asked to authenticate "who done it" it has helpful information as to the study of progress marks. It is mainly an essay as to the origins of the designs used in gun scroll.

If you have a deep interest in the history and background of gun engraving, at $38.95 the book is a steal. However if your main interest is in the "how to" of gun engraving you will be very dissapointed. It is pretty academic. It is the kind of book that appeals to Barry Lee, Scott, R. L. Wilson and me but it doesn't have wide appeal.
