For never having done it before, that is a very good effort...

You do have some problems in the ways that your scrolls lead off of each other, and a couple leaves that should be shaded better.

I have seen some that do it for a living who don't do it as well - believe it or not!

That looks good Willem, a lot better then my first try.

You could use a smaller flat for the wigglecut on the backbone, this one is a bit heavy for my taste and when you use your liner roll it into the cut, start with one corner and get wider as you get into the leave, same with the cross hatching.

Thanks all for the kind words.

@ Peter, I'll keep that in mind with rolling the liner, i didn/t like the wide lines either but I didn't know how to avoid that.
The next time I also will wrigglecut with a smaller flat, maybe it looks nicer.

Great work for a first! Try to keep all you scrolls and leaves flowing in the same direction. You have scrolls on the end (right side) that are originating from the wrong spot. You want your scrolls to have a common stem, and when you learn that then you can start breaking the rules. Also, keep your leaves going the same direction on both sides of the stem (wriggle line). Good job and I look forward to watching your progress! Thanks for posting.

Willem, that is much better than any of my early work. I hope you post more pics so we can watch your progress. Keep after it.

Hey Willem,

That looks great. I have seen quite a lot like yours here in Reno. This would not have been a missfit on the show at all.

Thanks guy's for the nice comments, I know it can be done better but the important thing is that I understand now where and how I should do that.
So my next must have a little improvement (at least).

@ Hora, having a good time in Reno??? ( why do I ask that..... sure you have ).
Talk to you when you are back.

Hi Noud, Thank you and it sure is a pity that there are so less oppertunity's in Holland were you can learn the skills of engraving.
Therefor I am going to Ahlen, Germany end May for a class.
I am looking forward to it.
