This was a project I finished just before Christmas. It was announced at the National Association of Music Manufacturers (NAMM) show this past weekend in Anaheim, CA. I believe it is scheduled to tour this coming year and then be installed into the Martin Guitar Museum.

The guitar theme is based on Leonardo DaVinci's works including the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. It has been lovingly dubbed "DaVinci Unplugged". :)

Very nice Tira!
Can i ask you, what metal are the pegs made of? They look like brass but I'm not sure!

Tira,

WOW! What an opportunity, and what a beautiful job of engraving.

I've toured the Martin plant a few times and find their manufacturing concept quite innovative.

Thanks for sharing!!

What an opportunity for them that they could add some of their works to yours! They must be very proud.:big grin:

Thanks for all the great comments.

And Hora - I love the way you phrased your comment - it made my day.

Katia - the buttons are made of a very nice cutting brass. I don't know the alloy. They are blackened with a product called brass black to make them look antique. Martin wanted the buttons to look like they were very old antiques and had been sitting on the guitar for a long time. A special thanks to Sandy P. who sent me the bottle of brass black. :)

Thanks for your answer Tira. I absolutely love guitars. They are such amazing instruments and what an achievement it is to have worked on a "special" Martin!
I wish I could go to the NAMM one day. Guitar heaven!

What a prestigious engraving job for one of America's most respected guitar companies. And what a great feather to add to your engraving cap! Congratulations, Tira! :beerchug:
