I have had great success using spirit turpentine and collophany resin used in violin making.
I couldnt easily get Damar resin so used the colophany from a freind who makes violins and YAY! it is great!:thumbs up:
far better than the artists varnish spray I was using that used to bunch up and lift while engraving. :yes
So for those who are finding Damar resin difficult to get try plain resin or colophany it works. I used 1 tablespoon in 60ml of spirit turps.
Thanks to all who posted this tip

As a quick aside Im back from a trip to Scotland that has soaked up valuable practice time but Im doing some shading prac on phosphated steel plates for fridge magnets. I have a ball vice now and must find a way to rest my forearms as keeping the angle of incidence consistant is difficult with a System 3.
