John,

I know another saying. "Give a man a knife, have a friend for life."

My father once worked for a company that gave unique little folding knives with the company's name engraved to their customers at Christmas. In the box with each knife was a penny. I suppose the giver was supposed to keep the penny. I still have one of those knives somewhere but no box. I engraved dad's name on it. Now I'll have to start looking for it.

Doc,
Americianized I am. Citizenship five years to the day from the day of my arrival.
In those days five years was the minimum to take what was then a very tough exam in front of a Federal Judge.
Not at all like the piece of cake rubber stamp mass swearing in done now for new citizens.
Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday and always has been. We have so much to give thanks for.
In England, a like holiday it is called Harvest Festival. In my day the churches were decorated with baskets of fruit and vegatables and sheaves of wheat. Very pretty.

Arnaud, I did not know that your country also followed that custom. Thank you.

Roger, hope you find your Dad's knife and even the old penny.

Happy, joyfull Thanksgiving to all.
Best.
