Kulley,
I've got one that a jeweler friend loaned me. The manufacturer refers to the Mantis as a inspection microscope and that's just they are. A mantis is great to to look into but it does not have the stereo quality a binocular style microscope has. A Mantis just does not work for engraving. My jeweler friend doesn't seem to want Mantis back to bad either because he asked if I would store it for him at my place.

I was looking at scopes today and seen them and just wonder about them. I think it would be a good setup if the magnifiation worked like a regular scope.

I have a mantis scope. I have used it for some time now. It has served me well because of my wearing glasses. They have a nice sized screen to view, but you do loose the three dimensional feature that is so helpful to engraving. You don't have the zoom feature either. Last October I switched to a Meiji and much prefer this scope. If you have to lay out the bucks for either scope, my 2 cents would vote for the Meiji.
