This is what his website states he covers for the Intermediate Class:

  • gold line inlay
  • gold sheet inlay
  • more advanced scroll design
  • refining cutting techniques and individual skills

HOWEVER...
At the July class I attended he thoroughly covered:
  1. Lots of special graver geometires, uses and construction
  2. Sculpting steel and inlays
  3. Bulino - fine line and dot
  4. Special effect shading
  5. Raised inlays
  6. Annealing different metals for inlay (special request)
  7. Lettering (special request)
  8. Transfer methodology (special request)
  9. Fixture uses, suppliers and self-construction (special request)
  10. Unusual tools for all of the above and how to 'find or make' them
  11. Access to years' worth of engraving, art, design and gun books (some rare!)
  12. A handbook with suppliers of all kinds of tools, metals, etc.
  13. The patience of a Grandparent with a slow learner (me!)

The timing and instruction could not have been any more inspired for me. I'd been studying with Ron Nott almost daily for the better part of a year. I came home from Ray's class to find Ron on his way to his Maker. Ron was very excited about me studying under Ray Cover, Jr. I know why now.

Don't let Ray's skimpy syllabus fool you. There are great things in Festus, MO!!!

Ray - A final word from me:

That new cell phone will do little to improve what you deliver in your class. My goals and daily practice have gone to a completely new high after having attended your school last month. I hope to return for an Advanced class, once I've gotten a grip on all that I learned in 'Beautiful Downtown Festus.
Tnx!
