I never will learn painting, but I enjoy painting colors.
I have hesitated in posting this because of the sad announcements over the last few days.
When I was engraving for a living and had to do a scene with trees, leaves, clouds, sky, water, or grass in them, I often wished that I could dab a bit of paint, rather than spend the hours needed to accomplish a resemblance using a burin.
Years ago I did this painting for my wife Franca.
She has finally published her cookbook and she used it for the front cover.
Here also, is a couple of my most recent smearing. Both are done without references. One is a soccer game, and the other is where I walk every morning with my dog. You can see that my style has loosened up with the years.
These paintings are done from things that I recall seeing, rather than using photographic references...I think that is a good way to stimulate creativity and bring forth the child within us.
Have a wonderful day.
