Barry, that brings back some memories especially the view over Gardone, and the vice...I have one exactly the same I bought it from one of the engravers at Giovanelli's workshop.

I have one of those vises too, which I bought in Brescia in 1984. Thanks for the nice photo series :)

Cool pictures Barry. Looks like a majestic place with a LOT of history.

Funny....what sticks in my mind from looking at the pictures, are the utilitarian chairs in such an elaborately decorated church:big grin:

What a beautiful place. Kinda makes me wonder why my grandparents came to the USA. Must have been a nasty place to live at one time.

While you're there, make the effort to get into the city of Brescia, and visit the Museo di Santa Giulia.
http://www.bresciamusei.com/Pages/it_museo_santa_giulia.aspx

It's one of my favorite museums, built on top of excavated Roman ruins and a medieval monastery. They way they incorporated those archeological sites into the museum structure is beautiful.

It also has the original bronze Vittoria Alata; I carved a marble version of that a few years ago.

Yes, those Vises are nice, I don't know where to buy them, but I will check.
This one was a gift.
Chris, I dropped by Creative Art,a couple of Gunmakers, and Sabatti and am getting a line bulino tune up at Giovanelli's.
After watching your DVD, I could not resist.
I have a number of friends here from previous trips and will try to visit as many as I can.

And for Ed Delorge here is a pic of Laura Vibrioni, an excellent engraver out of Lionello Sabbati's Shop.
Sabatti offers excellent lessons on gold inlay, scroll, line and point bulino, I have been sitting in with him in the evenings, and highly reccomend him.

Una donna molto bella!!!

Barry, Invite Laura to join us on this forum. For some reason I never see any Brescian engravers here. The only Italian engravers who have participated have been form other parts of Italy. I realize they don't all speak English but I am sure that several do.

Thanks for the pictures,

Roger

Thanks Ed.
Today is my last day at Bottega Giovanelli's.
This afternoon my daughter and I tour the Fausti Shotgun company.
Should be informative.
Here is a pic of the old teaching the young at Giovanelli's:
