Hi Guys,
This is a recent job that I had a good time setting. The metal is 14k Rose
gold and the Diamonds are High white two pointers and some one pointers.
The diamonds go right around the leaf and under the fold to get the secret
treasure look.

Rose gold 14k is really nice to set in, it seems to push as well as 18k yellow.
Cuts nicely with a graver also. I hope I get a few more in Rose gold.

That is some great work. The layout and planning that you stone setters do for a project like this is very intimidating to me, and this looks great. Thanks for posting, Seth

Since I don't do any stone setting at all I think of Pave work as being even more difficult. A simple, single, regular stone I think I could do, given either a proper sized hole or the burrs to make it. But Pave... :beat up: Just not enough room for error for a starting project, IMHO.

And on this one you mentioned that the stones wrap under the fold. Boy, that must have been fun  I'm guessing you did some careful planning to make sure you'd be able to get at things to be able to set all the stones under the fold.

Came out great!

Carefully planning is the name of the game. This pendant is a moderate pack of diamonds.
Where there is about a 50-50 split between surface area of the stone to the surface area
of the metal. This require a moderate amount planing so you don't run out of metal.
There is fudge room to pull a stone in the right direction.

A tight pack pavé is a work of precision. There are a lot of common prongs that can hold
three different stone at it junctions. There is no room for error is small and rather than using a single size of stone. Each stone has to be fit to the require space. The number of
beads is kept to minimum number. Ideally they are a perfect half spheres.

Loose packs are engraver friendly giving the setter a chance to do some creative
bright cutting.

Going around a radius can throw off the standard distance between each stone.
This has to be compensated for. So, yes a lot of planing on how should you attack a job
is needed. After a while though, it become second nature and you don't think about it.
Developing a dynamic understanding of the arts is what your going for.
Only one thing gets you there study and practice, practice, and more practice.
After a while it's just plain fun.

Talk to ya later Steve,
Jim
