Victor engravers ball

I acquired a small one a while back and started using it recently. First I noticed that it would not hold its position in the felt ring, but I solved that with a couple of pieces of rubber. My problem right now is that it swivels too easily. There is a pin to lock the swivel, but is there some way to brake the swivel action? I did notice that there is a screw in the bottom of the ball, but slight tightening and loosening did not seem to produce any results so left it alone. Is there a brake? Thanks, Mike

Mike,
Most Victors that I have seen, including mine do not have an adjustable brake system.
They just have the pin that drops to stop rotation.
Anyone with machine experience and the tools could drill and tap one to adapt a brake system like that provided on a GRS vise I suppose.
But it might be better to buy a new or used GRS vise and sell the Victor.
The small block has the brake system and is about the size of your Victor.
Just my thinking, others may differ.

With my Victor I just place a small sheet of worn out 400 grit paper for a little drag....fold it over for even more resistance..... It works just fine.
