Older pictures disappeared

Many times I see at forums with older tutorials that the pictures aren't showing up anymore, instead of the picture you see a little red cross.
Why is that and is it possible to replace the pictures??
For example in this thread that i would love to watch and so it is with more threads.

Unfortunately this is what happens when the photos are hosted outside the forum on someone else's server. When the the Cafe member closes their account or no longer use the photo hosting service, the photos disappear from threads. I agree that it's a shame. Our gallery meister monk does an excellent job of saving photos for our gallery, but sometimes we don't manually save the ones in tutorials.

Sam, I understand, all mine are still online.
If someone closes his account, all of is text and added pictures are still there, but one could also remove all his answers and text in all of his treads, that is even worse than no longer hosting pictures.

Willem, all of this has to do with internet space and bandwidth.

I have search for all of Phil, I stored all I could find, but I know after some time he is deleting his photos from his web space.

Like you said Sam, a real shame, newby's can learn a lot of those tutorials.
Though, there is so much to read here that sometimes engraving its self comes in second place:beat up:
