gun help!!??

I apologize in advance because I know this has been talked about around a year ago........ I have a derenger I'd like to engrave, It is currently nickle plated what is the best way to remove this? Or do i just engrave through it? Thanks in advance for your help.

My advice is to have it de-plated by a plating shop. You'll then need to do extensive refinishing to bring it up to engraving standards. You can engrave through plating but you run the risk of flaking and peeling and you have no way to make a repair if you slip. It's been a long time since I was faced with this so maybe the gun engravers will chime in with an easier solution. / ~Sam
