A student of mine mentioned that a square graver looks like the Washington Monument. She's right!

How interesting is that????
I Googled "Who designed the Washington Monument"
It was a good read about Robert Mills.
He was the first professionally trained architect born in America—in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1781.

Actually, Paul Bunyan used that very tool to chisel out the Grand Canyon. It was held by Paul and powered by John Henry's sledge hammer!
Afterward it was donated & placed on display in DC.

Inquiring minds want to know,

It's actually the world's largest golf tee. In the mid 50's they did a full maintenance, scaffolding all the way to the top. tuckpointing, stone repair, etc.

When they got to the top the job foreman and master mason (Mr. Cleland) took photos with a golf ball on the point, swinging a club. Cleland's son told me about it, but I never got to see the pix.
