Both these Northwest tribes have a tradition of carving, an I've picked up some pieces over the years. I'd like to find someone who could engrave a couple knives in traditional patterns (raven, et al). Is there anyone out there?

I like the Moari style too, but they're different. NW Coastal shapes are very stylized and specific. The subject matter differs also as the creatures in each mythology are derivitive of the local areas. No Raven, Orca, Salmon, or Bears in Moari.

in the land of Scrolls,
I know there are some engravers who specialize in this, JOhn Rohner got a couple of his hammers engraved in this style from a practitioner of this art.

I've been up to the island several times and seen plenty of engravings by Haida.Pronounced hydaa.I would think a web search would find you a native artisan.

I don't remember the tribe, but believe that Bob Evans' gun at the FEGA show in Reno had a lot of imagery from NW Native Americans. (Just looked up the pic in my copy of Engraver - thanks to Andrew, et al).

Jerry is right on.
Owen Walker does this style and I believe he is a member of this forum.
Bob Evans also did a wonderful piece that won an award at FEGA, as Gary pointed out.
Multiple metal inlay as I remember.

John,
I only found a Walker that joined in 2007 but have never posted...
I may send him a PM and ask...
Really enjoyed meeting and talking with Owen and seeing the work he does...
Wish you could make the engrav-in...

Jerry and Eisman,
Please PM or email me if you want Owen Walker's contact information.
Or maybe a Google will bring up his website and contact info in Bellingham, WA.

Jerry, regards to you and Joan, enjoy Blade and Scott's "Engrave In" and say Hi to all, please. Still think fondly of those great Gulf shrimp you brought for everyone, thanks.
Great food, great music and great people.
Best wishes.
