Try doing a search here on transfers.... you will find lots of information. I just draw directly on to the metal with a ultra fine tipped marker.
I did a tutor for beginners like me and have a section on laser transfers. It makes practice plates easy to make for cutting practice and learning the different tools and use of the tools.
Transfers do not replace drawing but it will get you cutting quickly as you develop drawing skills.
