I have been in Scotland for a few weeks, and came upon this antique butter box, about 10 inches diameter.

Nice carving !

Exceptional carving. It looks to have some AGE to it as well.

Thanks for posting it Rod.

The quality of ornamental carving on this piece is superb. Truly a gem, Rod. Did you buy it?
~Sam

p.s. We keep our butter in the plastic tub it came in. No class whatsoever!

Thank you, pals!

Sam,

The wood tub is early 1800's

The lady was not for selling it, but she dealt in Polish amber so I got some goodies for my daughters from this array below...

Ron,

I was looking through the Art Gallery/Museum in Scotland. You and I being Elvis fans, thought you might like evidence that all of Scotland liked the King, so made him a saint with a halo. He has a place of honor in the museum, and by the way, here is the King's gilded armor, reworked to accommodate his taste for bacon treats!

Rod,

Jeez!,That must have taken that guy most of his life to carve that one. Talk about patience!! Perfection!!

Not exactly the Elvis I remember Rod, but maybe my memory isn't too good these days. HaHaha
