It's not a zoom which is nice to have. Rather there seems to be three fixed lenses that might be alright.
I found when I bought a Russian scope with similar arrangement it was a bit close to the work.
I bought a Mieji reducer lense that didn't fit and made an adaptor so it would.

I would suggest you really be much happier with a better scope. Since I have both, I would say it's worth
the wait till you have enough money for a good one.

Hi,

Jim is correct on this scope it is not a M3Z which is a excellent surgical scope.

I have the M3Z and it has Clear and flawless optics. The objective is .65 and is great for engraving.
These are very expensive scopes and hard to get parts for. They are even more difficult to find in the correct configuration for engraving and to set one up will take a lot of time and money.

I think Jim means that you can get a better scope for engraving with a 6 inch or better working distance under the lense (.50) and with zoom. The M3B is fixed but is a excellent high end scope but not for your use.

Look at B&L, olympic, Nikon, or many others. the Wild is just too expensive and hard to get parts for.

i got a "sciencescope" brand zoomer on ebay for a decent price with the .5 lens. it's not top shelf compared to some, but is quite adequate. i wouldn't hesitate to get another. be sure, whatever you buy, to buy from a dealer that allows returns "if unhappy ".
