It isn't much but it is a start. My wife doesn't seem to mind all the tap tap tapping. Bench set up 009.jpg

Hi Mack,

That will do fine for a start - you'll refine it as you go. (Change height, lighting, and other little things as you notice you need to...)

The only thing I see right away that I would change, is the location of your laptop. You WILL get chips in the keyboard sooner or later!

It's OK to get 'em in the coffee cup - we all do that. Just be careful when you get down to the dregs...

I put a cloth on the laptop when I am engraving and I am a knife maker so I am used to things in my coffee. LOL

From what I can see, the location of your vise inside of a pulled out drawer would not be a very solid surface. I would think you would get much cleaner cuts by having a more rigid surface.

Also, I would move the laptop as metal chips in a keyboard would not be good.

Just my opinion FWIW.

Peter E Actually the bottom of the drawer has been replaced with 3/4 plywood and the sides have been strengthened as well. It will have to do for now. When the weather warms up I will move it to my workshop.
