Ladies & Gentlemen
A warm Hello to all of U artistic craftsmen. It's encouraging to belong to a proficient group such as Your esteemed selves. I was introduced to THE CAFE by Fellow competent compatriot Jacques Herbst, an Elite Cafe Member.
My name is abdur-Rasheed Mahomedy and I am an full time Accounts Executive today. In the old days they would call us Bookkeepers ! Married with 4 Children, 2 boys and 2 girls, all married, and with 8 Grandchildren, we reside in Parlock, a suburb in Durban, South Africa.
I make CUSTOM KNIVES, via the stock removal method, part time as a Hobby. Have been doing it for the past 16 Years. I belong to the SOUTH AFRICAN KNIFEMAKERS GUILD (voting Member), www.kgsa.co.za, and we have our annual shows in Johannesburg. I really like to make highly embellished, own designed COLLECTIBLE pieces. My eldest son is also a Knifemaker and he is the only full-time maker in our city. We operate our workshop /studio like other makers, from home. We have, over the Years acquired some good relative equipment and we have our own web site of knives we both sell. The shop and Knives may be seen on the net at www.arm-koknives.co.za
We see engraving as an highly prized embellishment and an extension to our craft.
It is definitely not a separate hobby or craft for us.
I am presently busy acquiring our engraving equipment and hope to start real soon, LORD Willing.
In the interim, we have enough to catch up on at THE CAFE.
We hope and pray that in due course, YOU folks would be proud of our engraving achievements, due to the guidance and tutoring garnered from THE CAFE.
Do bear with our ignorance if it may overstep YOUR proficiency.
We look forward to a most enjoyable journey.
Peace be upon U all.
