Hi all,
I wanted to remind everyone that to get Air Fairs to Reno at the best rates, you should probable start now.
Last year I put if off by a week and paid another 35.00 dollars. Not earth shattering, but kind of annoying.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again at the Silver Legacy Casino.:D

Talk to ya later,
Jim

Which bring up a good point. I came on the Thursday this year and missed the social by one hour.
Hind site being 20/20,this time I will arrive on Wednesday. Yes, it's that good of a party.

I wish we could schedule it for a different day/time but with all the events and time schedules, this is the only time we can have it. I'm looking forward to it an just booked my plane ticket this morning myself!

Last years social was a great time. It's a wonderful way for the newer members to meet and talk to some of the top engravers in the guild. We may even get some big names from other areas as well, I seem to recall seeing David Trevallion there last year. The atmosphere was completely relaxed and everyone that I spoke to afterward had a great time.

Only a few fist fights broke out, but we're keeping Andrew away from the hard stuff this year so there shouldn't be any problems.

Guns are allowed. Some day we may even consider ammunition.

I am looking forward to coming to visit the Reno show again. I had REALLY been hoping to participate but just found out that I'm not eligible. :( :( :( I'm totally heartbroken, I'd been hoping it would be my first engraving show. Waaaahhhh!!!

I'll still come visit, and hopefully catch more than the last three hours of the show this time.

I was really looking forward to going to Reno this year, but will not be able to. Last year, my first, was so much fun and I met so many wonderful people, my head was spinning for a long time. I'm working on getting completely out of debt, including the mortgage, and the money for the show will go a long way toward that goal. After becoming totally debt free, I'll then be able to attend all the shows I want to with nothing to hold me back, so I think it will be worth the effort. As a side note, I can then get more stuff, GUILT FREE! We're making good progress, so if you see me there, then you'll know we did it in record time!, If that happens, I may fly first class (never done that before).

CORRECTION.......Sorry Katherine and other folks.
I believe my original post below is in error.
I did know that if you only display scrimshaw you have to purchace a commercial table as the FEGA/ACGG joint rules state that regular display tables must be 80% ( I think that's the % ) custom guns or engraving.
My poor old rusty mind was not quite engaged when I typed below.
But being a member is still the cheapest way into the three day show and the seminars.
And I am now aware that Kathrine is already a member FEGA.
And President Rex's fun get together bash is another bonus!

John.

Kathrine.
If I'm understanding you correctly not being eligible may be that you are not a FEGA member?
That's an easy fix for $50, less than paying for admission each day and free to members and includes a lot of other goodies.
We have had solo scrimshanders there before, Sandra Brady for one. And quite a few of the engravers have a little scrim on their table.
Did you contact Jan Billib about buying a table?
Contacts are acgg@acgg.org or 307-587-4297 fax or phone.
We sure would love to have you join us with your beautiful work.

Best wishes, John B.

John, I'll PM you, it's all still a little confusing to me and I don't want to accidentally publicly get my facts wrong. ;)

You'll do it Big-Un and make the show, everyone pulling for ya...
Jerry

Thanks Jerry. I really want to make it, so we're working extra hard to get those debts gone. We have already paid off over $13K this year on an income of $30K, so it is getting close to getting paid off just working it ourselves. If anyone is interested, watch The Dave Ramsey Show on Fox Business every night at 8:00 PM. It's quite interesting and inspirational.

Sorry for being off-track, but it will change our lives for the better and then I can play with you guys and gals all I want later.
