Bonjour
Hi all,

I want to show you a little flintlock pistol from the early 18th century. I‘ve spend my Sunday repairing its main-spring and cleaning it carefully . :)
This pistol is nicely engraved in the doghead, trigger-guard and butt cap. The engravings were certainly hammer and chisel done and they are representative of the French engraving style. It’s signed “Veyrenc a Aubenas “ Aubenas is a little town near the Ardeche, a beautiful river.

Voila :

Now that is the type of "primitive" engraving I am looking for!

Thank you for sharing! A facinating piece. I suspect restoration would be far more difficult than building a new replica form Stick & Steel.
