I'm thinking about making my wife a pair of ear rings out of flat silver or some other metal.

My question is where is the best place to purchase this and other material?

any suggestions on how thick the metal should would be appreciated.

Thinking of making something shaped like a key fob or spinner on fishing lure.

Don't laugh , she hooked me :D

Thanks

Jack

Jack,
When I build earrings out of silver sheet, I use either 20 or 22 gage. I usually buy my material from either Rio Grande or Indian Jewelers Supply.

Jack, Sante fe jewelers supply sells die cut ovals, rounds, etc. from sterling silver. Rio Grande as mentioned above sells die cut pieces as well. I believe they are plenty thick for engraved earrings.
I have personally used them for engraving with no problems.

You can get some real nice stuff - for 10 cents ea.

Yea, old dimes. You can either piece and cut out the pattern on the back or sand flat and engrave or engrave/cut.

They are about the right size. - Hint - put the hole in 1st.
