I and several other engravers will be demonstrating hand engraving for the general public at the HOTSHOPS OPEN HOUSE this coming weekend. At the last event we had six engravers and a variety of equipment and displays. It is a great event with every type of artist and artisan you can imagine. 90,000 square feet of creative arts and artists. Admission is free.

Spring Open House

Our annual Spring Open House is the last weekend of April. Events start Saturday, April 28th at Noon. Of our two annual open houses, the spring flavor offers visitors less congested parking, less foot traffic, easier browsing, and more access to the artists.
April 28th & April 29th, 2018

Saturday, from 12-8 pm
Sunday, from 12-5 pm

Artwork created at the Hot Shops includes (but not limited to) glass, drawing, painting, weaving, jewelry, photography, sculpture, design, pottery, furniture, fabric, mosaic, metal cast pieces,...the list goes on and on. The artists here are constantly creating new pieces, and this coming weekend is one of the best possible times to see the Hot Shops in all it's molten glory.

Tips for the Open House
Here's a few tips to make your visit great. Parking over the years has become a slight issue, it is limited. Please do not park in the hotel lots or lots that require permits, you will be towed. Instead, try carpooling with your friends, have someone drop you off and pick you up, or Ãœber from the Old Market. Remember, Mother's Day is in a couple weeks, do you have your gift for mom?

Where’s and What’s
The Hot Shops Art Center is located at 1301 Nicholas Street, just one block north of TD Ameritrade Park. With four galleries and three floors of wall space, you'll find a great variety of art during your visit. We regularly update our gallery page, so visit often for our latest events.

Music
A new event has been added this year. The Two Fellowship Core Collaborative Programs, Nelson Mandela Elementary Meerkat Melodies and Ollie Webb Center Musical Theater Students, will be performing together with the Fellows twice on Saturday, April 28 at 12:00pm and 1:30pm. The performances will be held in the Nicholas Street Gallery and the Event Space, respectively.

Demos
Bronze pouring, raku firings, blacksmithing, and glass blowing demonstrations will take place in the south building. Artists throughout the center will be demonstrating in their studios throughout the Hot Shops. Get one-on-one access to the artists, ask questions, and see how they work...
