I'm new here. I hope to learn more about engraving. I have a question about graver length. I bought some 2mm hss. I watch Shaun Hughes videos about graver sharpening, but he doesn't say anything about the length of the gravers.

the older style gravers are about 4" or so. making yer own from round stock, i would size them according to the graver handle they were to be used in. if pushgraving, you want the tip to protrude about a half inch from your fingertip. protruding more than .5", graver control becomes an issue.
