Question: Magnification suggestions?

I wouldn't use the optivisor either. I can't stand the things clamped around my head. I use flip up magnifying lenses on my reading glasses, and also use the little jewelers loupes that clip on to glasses for close up work when I'm building a 1911. I have a dental loupe, but it's hard to keep my head locked in one position for very long to use that. I'm just starting to learn engraving, so hats off to you folks who can do it wearing an optivisor clamped to your head. I get a headache just thinking about that. I'm going to keep using my scope.

Dani, it's just a thought, but have you ever seen the large plastic Fresnel lenses people use to magnify a whole page in a book? Those are really cheap, less than $5 each, and it wouldn't be hard to make a simple wood frame/stand to hold them. They're a lot more forgiving as far as head position looking through them.
