Mitch how much longer timewise as a percentage does the upper left light source technique take as apposed to a more stylised approach?

once you're used to doing it this way (see note in my first post about constantly keeping track of the light direction as the part spins in the vise), it really doesn't take all that much longer. i dunno...10-20% extra time? -some of which is having to be more cognizant of the contours you're trying to depict/define, plus where & how elements would cast shadows on themselves and adjacent elements. in a way, i'm not the best person to ask this question because i've been doing the 3D thing for almost 20 years and it's now second nature to me- like other learned perception skills such as reading & writing upside down. after so long you don't even have to think about it.

most of the extra time was in the rows & rows & rows of very fine shade lines. :confused:
