Proportional Dividers

My internet search has returned nothing so I thought I'd ask you guys.

I have accidentally dropped my pair of Alvin 7Â½" proportional Dividers. I need to check it's operation length, but I'm not sure how long the pins are supposed to be too give me accurate proportions.

Did anyone know?

those are too expensive to drop. i'd call the supplier. they should be able to measure and tell you.

Yeah, I set them on the bench reached for the hand piece and the hose drug them off the table top.

I took a look at my Alvin No. 950 Proportional Divider. Nothing in the instructions mentions setting the points. But in measuring it, with the pivot set at the 6-circle mark, both legs were the same length. Hope that this helps.

Thank you for the advice guys, I'll just have to dial it in on a known division.
