Its been a while since i last posted becouse
a was working around the clock for months after work to improve my engraving . That home made engraving machine doesnt help with learning curve. But ill get my airgraver soon.
This is my recent work.
I love engraving watches even though its tough stainless but for now this is only thing i enjoy and would like to practice on :D EXCEPT SKETCH BOOK

call me stubborn :D

I hope you can point my mistakes and give few improvement tips.

things i learned last couple of months(The hard way)
-there may be soft and very hard stainless steels
-etching ink is better for fine lines and flat black paint for background
-dont get my engraving too small
-i learned a lot about making transfers using sketchbook ,scanner photoshop and damar varnish (very helpfull)
-preping surface before engraving
-deepness of relief and shading (still learning that one)
-i learned great deal from old books
-a bit of photography but thats for another thread.

What is the black compound used to hold the links steady in the vise? Did it come off onto toe surface and stain the watch and vise? Can you remember where to get this compound? Thank you.

Your practice is paying off quite well! The transfers look consistent, yours scrolls look smooth and well formed, overall beautiful work. I'll leave it to other, more qualified individuals to criticize. Keep it up.
