From 1956-1972, Waffen Bock employed the late Siegfried Werner as their master engraver. As your S&W Combat Masterpiece was likely made between those dates it is most likely that Herr Werner was the engraver.

The style of ornament on your gun is called "blackleaf" by American engravers. German speaking engravers call it Altdeutscher Laubgravur. All in all, the engraving on your gun is of superb quality.

very nice looking. any chance you could do a closeup of the area foreward of the left grip top ? on this style, is it common to see animals depicted in the engraving ? just curious. btw-- thanks for showing this gun.

There are animals on both sides just above the grips. The jpg should show them but I will attach them again.

Yes, my first thought is I'd like to see some sharp close-ups. Those blurry arm's length shots are not of much use. The engraving MIGHT be very nice, but I can't tell from the photos.
