Everything in nature is fair game to be interpreted into ornamental designs.

One thing, however, has always irritated me. We have 3 kinds of Acanthus growing on my place. NONE of them have scroll forms.

The leafy scroll forms that we use resemble a fiddle head fern far more than Acanthus ever will...

some time ago there was a member from south africa. he did quite a bit of work along that line on spurs and buckles. brain rot deleted his name from what's left of my mind.
