The technique is most successful on fine silver and sterling (if special heat treating is accomplished first to bring the silver to the surface) and platinum. I have not been able to apply the 24kt gold to niobium. I have not tried other metals.

In the technique of Keum-boo the bond occurs between fine silver and fine gold - under heat and pressure...

The only way that I can see that it would maybe be useful on steel is if you laid down a fairly thick pure silver plating on the steel (or other metal?) first - for the 24K to bond to?

I've never tried it, seems like too much work when you have inlay, raised inlay and especially Damascene techniques that will give you the same "look".
